  • Summer 2023 at St Mary’s

    Summer is here and lots of exciting events already planned for St Mary’s Stansted. Details on the poster, but briefly:

    8th July 6-8pm, Blue Skies Big Band – come and have dance to some great American tunes.

    9th July, 3-5pm, ‘The Other Band’ (that’s the name of the band}.

    15th July, 4pm, Evensong with the Pheon Singers (ex- Cambridge University Choir)

    10th September, 3pm, an afternoon of music with Nancy May. Tickets £10

    Refreshments available at all the above events. And apart from the above, we have Open Sunday on the first Sunday of each month up until October. Cool tunes and refreshments. Church and churchyard tours available on requuest.

    Looking forward to seeing you at one of these events. Yoo will be made very welcome.

  • Events Planned for 2023

    The church calendar is already filling up. Champing starts again on 31st March with bookings until October already!! Here are just some of the events being planned for this year.

    • Saffron Walden U3A have a planned visit in April and also Friends of Essex churches are booked in for a visit in May
    • Stansted 1st Scouts have a renewal of promise service on Sunday 23rd April at 2pm. Why not join us to support our local scouts. Refreshments available too.
    • Open Sunday on the first Sunday of the month resumes in May. Do come along for a chat and a cuppa. I look forward to seeing you all 2-5pm
    • The bells at St Mary’s will be rung on Friday 5th May in celebration of our King’s coronation. Ringing 3-3.45pm. Thank you to Edmund and the band of ringers.
    • Thisismytheatre is returning on 27th May at 3pm. A date for your diary!! The Wind in the Willows

      Written by Kenneth Grahame, a magical tale brought to life right here in church. Ticket sales help with the cost of the upkeep of St Mary’s.
    • Saturday July 8th at 6.30 – 8.30pm, Blue Skies Big Band brings a selection of music to entertain us.
    • Sunday July 9th at 3pm. “The Other Band”. An afternoon of music.
    • Saturday July 15th at 4pm Evensong with the Pheon singers. Back by popular demand! The singers love the acoustics in our beautiful church and we simply love to hear them too!! A definite note for your diary.
    • Sunday September 10th at 3pm. A concert on a summer’s afternoon, performed by Nancy May. Tickets are £10.00 and available from Goldings on Chapel Hill. Cash only. Nancy is a soprano and classical crossover artist.
    • St Mary’s AGM, Sunday 21st May, 11am in the church. All are welcome.

    We look forward to welcoming you all to St Mary’s in 2023.

  • What’s on in October and November 2018

    October 7th, 2-5pm

    Open Sunday​ with tours and refreshments available. Or just pop in for a chat. Reflective music and a warm welcome to all.

    November 4th, 2-5pm

    Remember them. ​We invite all to attend including ex-services men and women too. The U3A choir will be singing a selection of tunes at 3pm. WW1 pre recorded music and poetry to mark the anniversary of the end of the war. £2.00 minimum donation. Refreshments available.

    6th December – Forest Hall School Carol Concert at 7pm

    8th December – A Christmas Carolthisismytheatre‘ performing A Christmas Carol at 6.30 (for 7pm). Get tickets early for this show, it’s sure to be fully booked on the day. Tickets available from

    9th December– Christmas Festival 11am to 5pm
    – Carols for all at 3pm.

    – Stansted Strummers at 3pm. Back by popular demand to entertain us and get us in the festive spirit!

    15th December – St Mary’s School Carol Concert at 2pm

    As always we will have a bedecked church full of beautiful displays and twinkling lights, transforming our church into a winter wonderland !

    If you would like to exhibit a ‘family tree’ for the Christmas Festival, 9th & 10th December, please let Lynda Dale  know (Telephone: 07716 099474) and she will reserve a space for you.

    We  do hope that you will come and share in our Christmas events.

    An opportunity to grab a bargain, or maybe make a bit of money from all that clutter you’ve been hoarding! Free entry or £5 if your selling. Pew-tops (tables) will be provided.
